Musical Direction

Michael Ellis Ingram from Missouri/USA studied conducting with James Buswell, James Ross and Ulrich Windfuhr, as well as piano with Mia Chung and Alina Polyakov. In addition to his master class studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig (College for Music and Theatre Leipzig), he was a lecturer for orchestral conducting at the local music pedagogical institute. As a guest lecturer he taught at the New England Conservatory and at the University of Maryland School of Music, and as a pianist and conductor he participated in music festivals such as the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors, the National Orchestral Institute and the Impuls Festival for New Music in Saxony-Anhalt. Ingram has taught music and English literature at various schools in the USA and Germany, including the music and art school "Clara Schumann" in Leipzig. Ingram is also Director of Musical Studies at the Salzburg Institute of Religion, Culture and the Arts, where he has been giving interdisciplinary lectures on music history since 2011.

In the 2012/2013 season Ingram was engaged as First Music Director at the Theater Nordhausen, where he conducted opera, operetta, musical, ballet and various concerts. Since 2016/2017 he has been a répétiteur and conductor at the Mecklenburg State Theatre. He is employed in all areas and takes over the musical direction of the stage productions WILLKAMEN IN DE WESSELJOHRN and JEKYLL & HYDE as well as the Christmas concert IM WINTERWUNDERLAND.

Production

Grown up in Oberweißbach in Thuringia, Toni Burkhardt studied media sciences and German language and literature in Braunschweig. During his studies he worked for the Staatstheater Braunschweig (State Theatre Brunswick). After completing his studies, he began as assistant director at Theater Nordhausen, where he initially worked as a play director from 2008 and as a senior play director from 2011 to 2016. There he directed Offenbach's DIE BANDITEN, D'Albert's TIEFLAND and Massenet's MANON, as well as Mozart's DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, DIE ENTFÜHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL, Wagner's DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER and the musical MY FAIR LADY for the Thuringian Castle Festival in Sondershausen. At the Theater Pforzheim he directed COSÌ FAN TUTTE and SWEENEY TODD. Toni Burkhardt has been opera director at the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin since 2016 and has already staged HOFFMANNS ERZÄHLUNGEN, MY FAIR LADY, Britten's PETER GRIMES, Gounod's MARGARETHE (Faust), Humperdinck's HÄNSEL UND GRETEL and Hindemith's NEUES VOM TAGE with great success. In the 2018/2019 season Toni Burkhardt staged the operetta IM WEISSEN RÖSSL by Ralph Benatzky and Richard Strauss' DER ROSENKAVALIER at the Mecklenburg State Theatre as well as ANATEVKA at the SCHLOSSFESTSPIELEN SCHWERIN 2019.

Stage Set

Wolfgang Kurima Rauschning was born in Papua New Guinea. He is the equipment manager at the Theater Nordhausen/Loh-Orchester Sondershausen. The designer studied stage design and costume with Rosalie at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (College for Design Offenbach). At the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Künste (College for Music and Performing Arts) Frankfurt am Main he studied theory and concept of directing. Since 1999 he has worked as a freelance stage and costume designer in Gießen, Sopron/Hungary, Frankfurt am Main, Aachen, Erfurt, Göttingen, Pforzheim (Stephen Sondheim's SWEENEY TODD) and Zittau (DANCER IN THE DARK by Patrick Ellsworth). In 2010 he received the "Nordhäuser Theaterpreis". His works in recent seasons include the stage for Offenbach's DIE BANDITEN, Massenet's MANON, Gounods FAUST, DIE TÄNZERIN VON AUSCHWITZ by Paul Glaser, THE PIRATE QUEEN by Claude-Michel Schönberg, Puccini's LA BOHÈME, Strauss' SALOME and the musical MY FAIR LADY by Frederick Loeweick. For the Mecklenburg State Theatre in Schwerin he created the stage sets for Offenbach's HOFFMANNS ERZÄHLUNGEN, MY FAIR LADY, Britten's PETER GRIMES, Gounod's MARGARETHE (Faust) and most recently for Hindemith's NEUES VOM TAGE. He also works as a painter, photographer, layout artist, illustrator, and video designer. Many of his works have been shown in exhibitions.

Costume Designer

Born in Freiburg, Udo Herbster studied stage design and costume design as well as theatre theory at the Freiburg Theatre at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (College for Design Offenbach) following his first stage design internships and assistances. Meanwhile, he worked as an outfitter for film and video productions. Since graduating as a designer in 2004, he has worked as a freelance stage and costume designer at the state theatres in Wiesbaden and Braunschweig, the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the city theatres in Gießen, Bielefeld, Heilbronn, Augsburg, Coburg and Nordhausen. The production RAVEL was created there in 2012 in collaboration with Jutta Ebnother. From 2007 to 2012, Udo Herbster also taught spatial design and experimental design at the Academy of Visual Arts Frankfurt am Main.

Solorepetitor 

Choir Rehearsal

Der kommissarische Chordirektor ist seit 2005 als Solorepetitor am Mecklenburgischen Staatstheater engagiert. Der gebürtige Schwabe studierte an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart Kirchenmusik, Schulmusik und Liedinterpretation und gastierte während dieser Zeit u. a. mit dem Württembergischen Kammerchor und dem SWR Vokalensemble. Als Klavierbegleiter, Organist und Cembalist konzertiert er im In- und Ausland. 2007 war er schon einmal als kommissarischer Chordirektor tätig. Im E-Werk war er zuletzt Musikalischer Leiter des Ballettabends MAZL TOV! Braun wurde 2013 von den Theaterfreunden Schwerin mit der Friedrich-von-Flotow-Medaille für seine Verdienste um das Bewahren der historischen Instrumente (Bühnenorgel, Zauberflöten-Glockenspiel) am Schweriner Staatstheater geehrt.

Dramaturgy

The chief dramaturge of the Mecklenburg State Theatre comes from Berlin and studied musicology and German language and literature there. After his first engagement as assistant director and dramaturge at the Thüringer Landestheater Rudolstadt, he earned his doctorate in Berlin and conducted research as a scholarship holder of the "Stiftung Weimarer Klassik". In 1999 he became music dramaturg at the Theater Nordhausen/Loh-Orchester Sondershausen. From 2004 to 2015 Larsen was dramaturge at the Theater Trier, where he attracted national attention with the discovery of rarely performed opera works, as well as premieres and first performances. He publishes books, essays and professional articles and is a presenter and reciter for the audience. He is also a composer, for example of his children's opera SIEGFRIED OR WER WERD HERR DES RINGES, which celebrated its French premiere at the Opéra St. Etienne in March 2018.

Choreography

Die Tänzerin und Kostümbildnerin Adriana Mortelliti wurde in Reggio Calabria geboren und absolvierte eine Tanz- und Pädagogikausbildung in Mailand. Außerdem studierte sie dort Malerei und entwarf Kostüme für das Croatian National Theater Zagreb, die Theater in Augsburg, Kempten, Nordhausen, Cottbus, Innsbruck, Luzern und das Vanemuine Theatre (Estland). Als Tänzerin, Pädagogin für Modernen Tanz und Choreographische Assistentin war sie am Theater Augsburg, beim Béjart Ballet Lausanne, am Staatsballett Berlin, bei den Seefestspielen Mörbisch und den Salzburger Festspielen verpflichtet. Sie choreographierte für das Cairo Opera House, das Staatstheater Cottbus und das Balletto di Milano. Für Schwerin gestaltete sie zahlreiche Kostümbilder, darunter für TOSCA bei den SCHLOSSFESTSPIELEN SCHWERIN 2018.
